In a Facebook post dated this morning around 10 am, Ellsworth Community School District Superintendent, Brian Nadeau, posted this message.
“I am writing to inform you that all buildings were placed in a lockdown today as a precautionary safety measure. At this time, the situation has been resolved, and all students and staff are safe.
The lockdown was initiated at approximately 8:45 a.m. following numerous 911 calls that were transferred to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, indicating a potential school shooter at Ellsworth Elementary School. Out of an abundance of caution, we followed our standard safety protocols while law enforcement responded and assessed the situation.
At no time were students or staff in immediate danger.
The lockdown was lifted at approximately 9:15 a.m. once authorities confirmed that there was no ongoing threat.
We understand that situations like this can be concerning, and we want to reassure you that our staff and students responded calmly and appropriately.
We are grateful for the quick response of the Pierce County Sheriff's Department and the Village of Ellsworth Police Department.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the district office.
Thank you for your continued support and trust in keeping our school community safe.”
