Elgin Council Emergency Services

Elgin’s City Council recently approved a proposal for architectural services from CRW Architecture and Design Group, of Rochester, for the final design and construction of a new Emergency Services building to house the Elgin Ambulance Service and the Fire Department.

Designs depicted in site layouts are for an approximately 10,500 square foot slab on grade building, designed to replace the currently separate fire station and EMS buildings.

The Plainview News reports the new building would be a combined facility in which infrastructure can be shared by both city departments, resulting in more efficient and less costly operational services for the city, according to information from CRW.

The company said that, at this early planning stage and based on its recent experience with similar facilities in the region, the schematic level projection for the total project costs is around $2.5 million.

Assuming a late March 2027 construction start, it’s estimated that the project will have a 10 to 12-month construction phase duration, with substantial completion and occupancy estimated for December 2027.
