City Council Overrides Mayor Levy Veto


The Red Wing City Council met Monday night and voted 5 to 1 to override Mayor Mike Wilsons veto of the 2022 Levy and Budget and Capital Improvement Program.


Two thirds majority vote was needed to override the two vetoes. Council member Kim Beise cast the lone no vote.


The council passed the budget and levy on December 6th, raising the levy 3-percent.


In other business, the Council voted unanimously to hold a special election to replace Ward 2 Council member Andy Klitzke, who submitted his resignation in writing, effective December 10th.


Council Member Klitzke' s term expires January 7, 2025. The first possible date the City can hold a special election to fill the vacancy is August 9, 2022.
