A man has died following a police chase that began in Dodge County and ended in a hospital parking lot in Goodhue County.
Investigators say a driver rammed a police car in West Concord during an attempted traffic stop yesterday.Â
Around 8:13 pm Sunday night an Officer of the Cannon Falls Police Department responded to a motor vehicle pursuit that was entering Cannon Falls. The driver stopped in the parking lot of the Mayo Hospital in Cannon Falls.
With multiple law enforcement agencies assisting there at that location, the unknown male driver of the vehicle was given repeated commands and refused to follow them.
The Goodhue County Sheriff's Office says the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.Â
Social Media posts indicated that there was an officer involved shooting in Cannon Falls, but no shots were fired by law enforcement.
A West Concord police officer is recovering after being injured in the crash that led to the pursuit.
Because a Cannon Falls Police Officer was present, the Chief of Police requested assistance from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to conduct a conflict-of-interest investigation of the incident.
