The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office is advising residents of recent calls and comments from people in regards to people going door to door and whether they could be scams or illegal.
In regards to whether or not people need a peddler’s permit in the county for going door-to-door for sales, most of the local cities do require a peddler’s permit but they do not out in the rural areas of the county.
The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office has also been getting calls on companies wanting to do seal coating or black topping. They advise you to make sure they are a local company and not from out of state.
Also, there also have been concerns about storm chasers when the county gets a large amount of wind or hail that creates damage to properties.
Go with local reputable companies and ask and then demand references as they all should have good references if they are doing good business.
