United Way of Hastings, which serves School District 200, has been providing a wide variety of services, including a pair of programs to help youth.
Executive Director, Mari Mellick, says Food 4 Kids came about after they became aware that there were students in Hastings coming to school hungry on Monday mornings.
Mellick says Helping Kids Succeed supports positive, healthy development for children, teens, and young adults in Hastings.
Mental health and substance use awareness programs are also part of their mission. Mellick says last year a teenager died of an overdose.
