Red Wing Public Schools data shows that fewer than half of all students entering kindergarten are best prepared to learn.
The district is conducting a community wide survey through Monday, February 23rd to gauge community understanding of school readiness and its importance.
Superintendent Bob Jaszczak says strong schools and a strong community are closely connected and how well children are prepared for kindergarten can affect not just the elementary years but their entire education.
Overall student success ultimately determines the long-term success of our schools, the workforce, and the community as a whole.Â
The Red Wing Public Schools is seeking community input to better understand:
•      How young children in our community are prepared for kindergarten.
•      What opportunities exist to improve school readiness for our youngest students.
The district will gather the perspectives of families, caregivers, educators, employers, and community members. Their feedback will shape future discussions and identify whether there are opportunities for improvement or collaboration.
The online survey (https://bit.ly/rw-ready-survey) is anonymous and takes less than 5 minutes to complete.
