Red Wing and area residents will have many chances this summer to get a close look at river boats that will be docking at Levee Park.  Â
This summer, ships from American Cruise Lines and Viking River Cruises will be visiting starting June 21st through October 20th.
The first boat, the American Melody, is scheduled to arrive Friday, June 21st at noon and will be docked until Saturday the 22nd at 2 pm.
This summer will also include visits from the American Symphony, American Countess, American Melody, American Serenade, and the Viking Ship. The current schedule has 19 river boats docking in Red Wing.
American Cruise Lines has acquired four paddlewheelers that previously sailed for American Queen Voyages, which ceased operations in February after their owner, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The river and small ship cruise operator is acquiring the American Queen, American Empress, American Countess and American Duchess, but there no plans finalized yet for the timetable of when those vessels may make their way up the Mississippi River.
