Red Wing Police and Fire Department Reorganization

The Red Wing City Council recently approved a Police and Fire Department Reorganization, which includes transferring emergency management responsibilities to the fire department.

New Police Chief Nick Sather and Fire Chief Mike Warner reecommended the reorganization.

Council member, Janie Farrar, says the discussions on the change has been ongoing for awhile and now seemed like a great time to do it.

Farrar says both Chiefs agree this strategic realignment not only optimizes resource utilization but also fosters collaboration and efficiency across departments

The reorganization includes additional Assignment of an Assistant Chief to manage Emergency Management, and Professional Standards, reassigning the Current Assistant Fire Chief to include fire department operations, which includes training in both Fire and EMS, quality assurance, fleet management, tools and equipment, and general supervision of the career Captains and staff.
