A 2024 Red Wing High School graduate and former Winger football athlete has died after a boat capsizes.
19-year old Cameron Walker drowned after the paddle boat he was on capsized on Tuesday on a Crow Wing County lake.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office said that at around 12:30 p.m., a 19-year-old man called 911, stating that the paddle boat he was on had capsized on Little Emily Lake in Emily.
The caller said he and two other women were in the water, and then the call disconnected, the sheriff’s office stated.
First responders found the two women, aged 20 and 22, who said that the man had not returned to shore. Authorities add that one of the women was brought to the hospital for cold exposure.
At about 2:54 p.m., Crow Wing County officials found the man in roughly 23 feet of water.
He was later identified by the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office as Walker. A GoFundMe has been created for his family, which describes him as a unique and wonderful person.
