The City of Red Wing Public Works Department will begin its annual process of flushing all hydrants and mains in the city of Red Wing this morning at 6 am.
The Water Treatment Facilities have improved the water quality in Red Wing, and as a result, crews have reduced the hydrant flushing to once a year.
The hydrant flushing are done to maintain water quality, remove accumulated rust from the water mains, and ensure that the fire hydrants work properly.
Some areas such as dead-end streets may be flushed multiple times during the year depending on the specific needs of the area.
The schedule for this week includes North of Seventh Street from West Avenue to the east.
North of Fifth Street.
West end, including all the Old Fairgrounds.
Pepin Woods Trailer Park.
Burnside area.
Charlson Crest development area and River Bluffs development area.
