With winter on our doorsteps and cold weather already here, it’s time for residents of Plainview to have a reminder of the city’s rules concerning snow removal and winter parking.
Mayor Aaron Luckstein says unlike some city’s there is no alternate side parking but he says the city expects people to move cars off the streets for snow removal when at all possible.
There are also snow emergencies declared occasionally.
Luckstein says during snow emergencies the city posts online and the WPVW radio. He says Eckstein Athletic Field is one of a few spots available for vehicles to use temporarily.
Parking enforcement begins immediately after a citywide snow emergency is called which can result is a $100 ticket which grows to $120 if not paid within 48 hours.
To faciliate snow removal, it’s unlawful to park any vehicle on the street or in an alley from November 1-April 1 between the hours of 2 am and 7 am or until streets are plowed from curb to curb following a snowfall over 2 inches.
