PEM’s School Board held discussion regarding an indoor air quality update during its monthly meeting on March 9.
Superintendent Courtney Frie and Dashir Maintenance Service supervisor Trevor Schultz met with representatives of Minneapolis-based Kraus-Anderson, a construction management company, in regard to work to remedate a mold problem which affected the PEM PreK-3 building, PEM High School, and the PEM 4-5 building in Elgin last summer.
Frie said SitelogIQ, a Minneapolis-based construction management firm which has met with the School Board in December and listed several categories of facility assessment, focusing on indoor air quality, is willing to hold a workshop in order to reduce project costs for PEM.
The Plainview News reports SitelogIQ’s presentation in early February showed costs for high-priority needs (mold areas), additional areas to consider (non mold areas), and tariffs, for a total estimated construction cost of $13 million.
Another construction management company, inBYLT, of Crystal, Minn., also is under consideration for the project.
Frie said the School Board must be ready to bid on the project by September, in order to set the fee structure, the type of equipment to be used, and such.
