More than 100 young people, including PEM High School National Honor Society members and volunteers, recently raised over $1,000 for St. Jude Children’s Hospital and 230 pounds of food for the Plainview Elgin Area Food Shelf.
According to the Plainview News, a total of $1,129 for St. Judes  was raised during the sixth-annual ‘Haunted Woods’ event held Oct. 24 near Elgin.
The hosts donned Halloween costumes and helped scare a large crowd of folks who went through a wooded loop featuring a spooky ‘cemetery’ and creatures of the night. Little ones walked through early on a ‘non-scary’ route.
Representatives of Cabin Coffee and 3D’s Ice Cream offered treats to the visitors.
Visit the PEM 9-12 High School site on Facebook for information on more upcoming events.
