PEM High School Plant Sale

Greg Taylor

Young entrepreneurs in Steve Hinrichs’ Horticulture class at PEM High School began learning how to run a small business back in January.

Students have been troubleshooting, designing, planning and organizing, preparing the school’s greenhouse for the annual May-June Plant Sale, which is now underway.

According to the Plainview News, the students are assisted again by Clarence Day, a retired Plainview man who waters and fertilizes.

Greenhouse plants are mostly annuals. There are two types of peppers, two types of tomatoes, hanging baskets and porch pots. Plus lots of annuals, for growing in sun and shade.

The PEM greenhouse, located behind the high school, is open from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays through Friday, May 31.

Visit the PEM 9-12 High School Facebook site for more information.
