Minnesota’s Wildfire Risk

Minnesota’s wildfire risk has increased significantly, prompting state agencies to enlist seasonal firefighters six weeks earlier than usual.

According to the latest fire danger map from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, most parts of the state are now classified as “high” fire danger areas.

Over the past few weeks, more than 70 wildfires have been reported across the state.

The DNR urges all Minnesotans to comply with local fire restrictions to minimize the ongoing risk.
