The annual Minnesota March Foodshare is underway and the Red Wing Area Food Shelf is one of the hundreds around the state to benefit.
Dee Bender, Board member of the Food Shelf as well as a volunteer, says you can drop
off items or they can come to you.
Food Shelf Manager, Brenda Smith, says the donations benefit mostly local and area people and sometimes a little beyond.
Smith says items needed for March Food Share Month, which actually runs through April 9th, include cereal, pasta/pasta sauce, peanut butter, canned fruits/veggies and stews, toothpaste, shampoo, hand soap, and toilet paper.
Monetary donations are always welcome, with every $1 you donate, they are able to buy about $3 worth of food at the Channel One Food Bank in Rochester.
The Red Wing Food Shelf is located at 1755 Old West Main Street and they are open Tuesday’s from 4–6 pm, Thursday’s 4-6 pm, and Fridays from 11 am – 1 pm. Their phone number is 651-388-9302.
