It was another busy year for Minnesota food shelves.
Second Harvest Heartland says in 2023, they saw seven million food shelf visits and that was already two million more than they saw in 2022 which was already two million more than they saw in 2021.
Food shelf volunteers are seeing people going to more than one food shelf a month and they are anticipating another record year of food shelf use in 2024.
In Red Wing, the Red Wing Area Food Shelf saw the number of people they served increase last year.
They serve people outside of the city as well, including, Welch, Goodhue, Hay Creek, Hager City, and Bay City.
