The D-N-R is asking Minnesotans to consider delaying any planned burning until wildfire conditions improve.
Wildfire prevention specialist Karen Harrison says, ” it is unusual in December, but we have all this dry vegetation across the landscape and without that snow cover, it means there is a lot of fuel that can easily ignite and create a wildfire that can spread quickly.”
Harrison says the lack of snow and unusually warm, dry conditions over the next week are likely to increase fire danger in much of Minnesota.
The D-N-R says it is best to wait to burn until we have at least three inches of snow on the ground.
