The Twins were swept by the Milwaukee Brewers with an 8-7, ten-inning loss at American Family Field yesterday. Royce Lewis, Michael Taylor, and Kyle Farmer all went deep to give Minnesota a 6-3 lead, but Milwaukee tied the game in the seventh to send it to extras. The Twins scored a run on the top of the tenth, but Jhoan Duran gave up a walk-off infield single to end the game. Duran was charged with his sixth loss in relief. Minnesota has a four-and-a-half game lead over Cleveland in the AL Central at 65-and-62. Pablo Lopez starts for Minnesota against Texas tonight. Listen on KWNG & WBHA at 5:30 pm and 1st pitch at 6:10 pm.
The Vikings are having some trouble locking down their starting tight end. The Athletic is reporting that the team and TJ Hockenson are still far apart in negotiations for a contract extension. The report says that Hockenson wants "a historic contract extension for tight ends." The Vikings acquired Hockenson at the trade deadline last season. He caught 60 passes for 519 yards and three touchdown in ten games with Minnesota. In other team news, the Purple continue their joint practice with Arizona today.
The Minnesota Lynx look to get a winning streak going when they visit the Dallas Wings at College Park Center tonight. The Lynx are coming off a 91-86 win over the Wings on Tuesday. Minnesota is tied for fifth place in the WNBA at 16-and-17. Tonight's game tips off at 7:00PM.
The Packers are putting a bow on training camp. Bill Huber with SI.com shared his observations from the team's final open practice yesterday and said Jordan Love was excellent. He went 9-of-15 passing for one touchdown and an interception, but excelled in an end-of-game situation. With 17 seconds left on the defense's 20-yard line, Love connected with rookie tight end Luke Musgrave for a touchdown. The team hosts the Seahawks in the final preseason game of the summer Saturday afternoon.
