Cannon Falls 5 Red Wing 1-The Bears posted a solid win over the Aces in a CCVL matchup at the Red Wing Athletic Field.
The Bears broke a 1-1 tie with single runs in the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth innings and took advantage of five Aces errors in the game.
Riley Miller paced the Bears 11 hit attack by going 3-5 with an RBI triple. Luke Sjoquist had two hits and scored two runs. The Aces only run came in the fifth inning when Teddy Tauer doubled and scored on an RBI single by Josh Thygesen.
Nick Drinken went 5 1/3 innings to get the win for Cannon Falls with Keith Meyers pitching 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief for the save. Ben Keuhni allowed six hits and two unearned run in six innnings on the mound and took the loss for Red Wing. Teddy Tauer pitched the final three innings and allowed three runs on five hits.
Cannon Falls (13-13) hosts Elko Wednesday and then host Hastings Friday in a game that will determine the #2 seed out of the CCVL for the upcoming Region 5C playoffs.
Red Wing (14-15) locked up the #1 seed for CCVL Teams in the Region 5C playoffs with an exciting 8-7 win in 14 Friday night vs. Lake City at the Athletic Field.
Red Wing hosts Stockmen's Irish Tuesday at 7:30pm. The Aces final two regular season games on Bluff Country 1250 KCUE/KCUE 99FM and on-line at www.kcueradio.com are Wednesday at 8pm as they host Miesville and Friday as they host Bay City at 7:30pm in the Aces fan appreciation night game.
