Hastings Hawks 5 Red Wing Aces 4-The Hawks edged the Aces on a steamy afternoon at Veteran's Park in Hastings.


Red Wing scored three runs in the top of the first inning on consecutive two out RBI singles by Dixon Irwin, Reese Tripp and Adam Thygesen against Hawks starting pitcher Jordan Jeske. Hastings got on the board in the fourth against Aces starting pitcher Ben Kuehni on an RBI single by Cory Wolters and tied the game in the fifth inning on an RBI double from Blake Warner and an RBI groundout from Noah Paulseth.


Drew Ball pitched three innings in relief for the Aces and struck out eight in his stint on the mound. The Hawks scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning against the hard throwing right hander on RBI doubles by Blake Warner and Ben Tiegland.


Jordan Jeske pitched the eight solid innings for Hastings but gave way to Dennis Reinhardt. Reinhardt had a shaky ninth inning, walking three and giving up and RBI single to Evan Petersmeyer before Ben Tiegland came on in relief and struck out Cooper Chandler looking with runners and first and second base to get the save.


The Aces and Hawks meet again Wednesday night in a rematch at the Athletic Field with the pre-game show at 7:15pm and the first pitch at 7:30pm on Bluff Country 1250 KCUE/KCUE 99FM and streamed at www.kcueradio.com. The winner gets the top seed out of the CCVL for the upcoming Region 5C playoffs.


Wednesday is also Red Wing Royal Ambassador Night.
