Red Wing 5 Lake City 0-The Aces won their second straight game by blanking the Serpents in Lake City.
Red Wing scored twice in the top of the first inning against Serpents starting pitcher Ryan Wolfe. Mitch Matter singled, Zach Harding reached on an error and Marcus Walm and Teddy Tauer follwed with RBI ground outs. Josh Thygesen added a sac fly RBI in the second inning. Dixon Irwin added an RBI single in the fifth inning and another RBI single in the ninth inning to close out the scoring.
Red Wing had 10 hits in the game with Irwin, Adam Thygesen and Zach Harding getting two hits apiece. Harding had a monster night defensively by fielding 10 ground balls at shortstop without an error.
Pitching set the tome for the Aces. Ben Kuehni pitched six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out six. Teddy Tauer pitched the final three innings, allowing just one hit and striking out three. Aces pitchers didn't walk a batter and faced just three batters over the minimum on the evening.
Ryan Wolfe was the losing pitcher for Lake City, allowing four runs (two earned) and eight hits in five innings on the mound.
Lake City is 2-6 on the year and 1-5 in Region 5C CCVL games. Red Wing is 13-11 overall and 4-1 in Region 5C CCVL games.
