Seven heifer calves generated over $31,000 in cash donations to the Friends of the Goodhue County Fair and set the stage for a perpetual fundraiser.
The heifers were sold in a special fundraising auction spearheaded by Tom and Gerry Webster at the conclusion of their September feedlot location sale near Zumbrota. The funds are earmarked for replacing the livestock facilities on the Goodhue County Fairground.
Support for the auction fundraiser came from local families and several longtime friends of the Websters who came from throughout the region to spend the day at the sale.
Friends of the Goodhue County Fair is a 501c3 organization that is separate from the Goodhue County Fair Board but works with the Fair Board to achieve mutual goals. FGCF’s focus is upgrading and replacing the livestock facilities. Current plans consider Phase 1 as replacing the Goat and Sheep barns or the smaller Isaak Walton and Poultry Barn depending on the availability of adequate funding.
