Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity is already fundraising for their large-scale housing project, Hope Heights, on the historic St. John's Hospital site in Red Wing they acquired from Mayo Clinic Health Systems last year.
Bob Hawley, Executive Director, says it’s still early in the planning stage, but the five-acre site holds the promise of offering affordable homeownership to over 20 families over the next 8-10 years.
Hawley says the project will eventually improve affordable housing opportunities for Red Wing area residents.
He says the timeline has slowed down a little as they look into possible grants but they hope to start building next year.
