DNR Free Nitrate Screening Events

The Goodhue County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) and Goodhue County Health & Human Services invite private well owners to participate in free nitrate screening events this summer.

There are still opportunities to get your water tested.

Olmsted County Fair in Rochester on Thursday from noon to 3 pm and Friday, July 31 from 3 to 6 pm.

There will be free testing at the Goodhue County Fair in Zumbrota on Thursday, August 13 and Friday August 14th from noon to 4 pm.

To take part in a free nitrate screening, residents should collect a cup of water from their private well using a clean glass container.

Samples will be analyzed on-site, and results will be provided within approximately 15 minutes.

Staff will be available to answer questions, help interpret results, and offer guidance if elevated nitrate levels are detected.
