RWPD Guns Recovered on Campus

The Red Wing Police Department recovered two firearms from a vehicle in the parking lot Thursday on the campus of River Bluff Education Center and Red Wing High School following an investigation regarding an altercation the previous evening.

At no time was there an active threat inside a school building.

The firearms remained inside a vehicle and were never brought into a school. Red Wing High School students were absent due to parent-teacher conferences.

On Wednesday evening, Red Wing police officers responded to an altercation in the community in which it was believed a firearm may have been involved, but one was not immediately located.

An 18-year-old man was taken into custody.

Following that incident, officers and investigators continued working to ensure there were no ongoing threats or potential for continued violence related to the situation.

Yesterday, two weapons were located in a vehicle in the parking lot of the campus of River Bluff Education Center and the Red Wing High School.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the case will be reviewed for any potential criminal violations.
