Plainview’s Well No. 3 Rehab

Rehabilitation for Plainview’s Well No. 3 air entrainment - water tower and existing tower has been approved by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH).

The Plainview News reports plans and specifications were submitted to the MDH in March regarding construction of a new water tower to alleviate air entrainment in the well.

Air entrainment in wells refers to the introduction of air bubbles into water being pumped.

Plainview city staff members were authorized in June to work with the city’s municipal finance advisor with Minneapolis-based David Drown Associates, to issue general obligation bonds to finance the water tower improvements.

City Engineer Brian Malm wrote in a summary for the July 8 City Council meeting that the bidding process will begin when a financing path is determined.

Malm also said the MDH has released applications for additional 100 percent grant funding to continue with the City’s lead service line inventory.
