NMSA Red Wing Shoe Award

The National Maritime Safety Association (NMSA) Technical Committee traveled to Red Wing last week for a behind-the-scenes look at the American manufacturing operation behind one of the most recognizable names in occupational footwear, Red Wing Shoe Company.

The visit brought together maritime safety professionals from across the country to tour Red Wing Shoes’ manufacturing facilities and see firsthand how the work boots relied upon by thousands of workers across the maritime industry are made.

Red Wing Shoes has exhibited at the NMSA Annual Conference for more than 20 years, providing maritime frontline longshore workers and safety professionals with expertise and products designed to help protect workers in demanding occupational environments.

During the visit, Red Wing Shoes was presented with an award recognizing the company as a valued and long-time NMSA exhibitor.

Red Wing Mayor Gary Iocco joined members of the NMSA Technical Committee during their meeting and officially proclaimed Wednesday, September 16, 2026, as National Maritime Safety Day for the city of Red Wing.
