Wabasha Police Feral Cat Live Traps

ree

The Wabasha Police Department is aware of the ongoing feral cat problem on the west side of town and in conjunction with several individuals and partnering agencies, they are placing live traps in the mobile home park area as part of a trial run to safely capture a few of the cats.

The cats will not be harmed.

All captured cats will be spayed or neutered and then relocated to local farms, where they will be well cared for. These cats are feral, not pets, and relocation is the most humane and effective option.

The Wabasha Police Department anticipates this will be the first of several trapping efforts as they work to reduce the feral cat population in a safe and responsible manner.

They kindly ask residents not to tamper with the traps or release any trapped cats.

They are safe, and the relocation process will provide them with a much better environment.

The Department is also looking for individuals who live outside city limits, especially farms, who may be interested in adopting outdoor cats for future relocation efforts.

If you or someone you know could use one or more barn/outdoor cats, please contact the Department or reply to their Facebook post.
