Port Authority Jefferson School
The Red Wing Port Authority Board will hold a special meeting in City Council Chambers and virtually on Thursday, October 29th at 8 am.
The purpose of this meeting is to conduct a public hearing concerning the potential sale of the former Jefferson School site at 601 Buchanan Street and for consideration of a purchase and development agreement with the developer selected through a request for proposals (RFP) process.
The Port Authorty will also consider whether to execute its purchase agreement for the Jefferson School property with The Red Wing School District for $1.
The Port Authority recently voted to proceed with a Winona developer to turn the former school building into an apartment complex.
Abramson Properties wants to turn the site into a 14-unit apartment complex. They submitted a proposal of $50,000.
Their proposal would preserve the existing playground and green space at the site, which was a concern of several neighborhood residents.
