The City of Wabasha, in conjunction with Homeland Security and Emergency Management in the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, has applied for Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for Lawrence Boulevard Lift Station.
The objective of HMA programs is to fund mitigation measures that reduce the risk of loss of life and property from future hazard events or disasters.
The Lawrence Boulevard Lift Station will upgrade their existing Main Lift Station that is located along Lawrence Blvd. and adjacent to the Mississippi River.
The project will include installing a new generator on the lift station and make some safety improvements to the existing manhole structure to provide safe access and property support for installing the submersible bypass pump.
All necessary permits and approvals will be obtained prior to construction and completion of the project and public participation is encouraged.
Those interested are invited to comment within 30 days by e-mail.
Lift station is located adjacent to the Mississippi River and is the single most critical piece of infrastructure in the City’s sewer system, as it collects wastewater from over 90 percent of the users in the system.
100% of project cost is grant funded (MPCA and FEMA).
