The Wabasha County of Commisioners recently approved an agreement with the Minnesota Department of Transportation, allowing for the use of federal highway grants for the county’s eligible project construction costs.
Grants include $1,660,000 in Conservation Reserve Program funds; $640,000 in Promoting Resilient Operations for Transformative, effcient, and Cost-Saving Transportation (PROTECT) funds; and $960,000 in Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) funds.
According to the Wabasha Countyt Hearald, the agreement and the funds are for reconstruction of 3.8 miles of County Highway 1 and 0.9 miles of Olmsted County Highway 18 south of Mazeppa, near the Wabasha/Olmsted county line.
The County applied for and was granted federal funds for this project from three sources for carbon reduction, food resiliency, and highway safety.
