Wabasha Co. Board Proposed Parking Ordinance

Wabasha County Commissioners on April 15 scheduled a public hearing for 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, in regard to a proposed County parking ordinance.

State Statute provides for general parking prohibitions, including where official signs prohibit.

An ordinance is recommended in order to have enforceable parking restriction signs and restrictions for parking in situations, such as during snow events or 24-hour parking in general along County highways, according to the Plainview News.

The proposed ordinance is written to provide the County Board flexibility in restricting parking by resolution.

Parking issues have been infrequent, but the proposed ordinance is meant to avoid future issues, including successful legal challenges of enforcement and providing for a public process of restrictions and clarifying policy.
