Wabasha County Commissioners on May 5 appointed Curt Strewe as interim County Sheriff, effective June 1.
He will begin work after Rodney Bartsh retires on May 31 after 24 years on the job.
Strewe, the Sheriff’s Department Captain, will serve until a newly-elected Sheriff takes office after the election in November.
According to the Plainview News, Strewe has 32 years of service with the County, including more than two years as a Sheriff ’s Deputy and 23 years as a detective/investigator.
He has also served with the Drug Task Force.
Bartsh announced in February that he would not seek a fifth term this year.
