Nearly half of the Vikings starting defense was missing from practice yesterday. While both Harrison Smith and Harrison Phillips were given a rest day, edge rusher Marcus Davenport, safety Josh Metellus, and cornerback Byron Murphy were all out due to injuries. Additionally, center Garrett Bradbury and linebacker Patrick Jones-the-second were both limited participants. The Vikings visit the Panthers on Sunday.
A major trade shook up the NBA world yesterday. ESPN reports the Bucks have acquired Damian Lillard from the Trail Blazers in a three-team deal that also included the Suns. Portland received Jrue Holiday and Deandre Ayton in the trade along with several unprotected pick and pick swaps over the next three drafts. Lillard is a seven-time All-Star and spent his entire 11-year career with the Blazers after he was selected sixth-overall in the 2012 draft. Vegas now has the Bucks as the betting favorites to win the NBA title as Lillard will now pair up with two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee.
The Packers have released the final injury report ahead of tonight's divisional showdown against the Lions at Lambeau. Jaire Alexander is listed as "questionable" with a back injury. The star cornerback was limited as yesterday's practice. Meanwhile, Aaron Jones and Christian Watson are "questionable" to play with hamstring injuries. Both players were also limited yesterday. David Bakhtiari, Elgton Jenkins, De'Vondre Campbell and Zayne Anderson have all been ruled "Out" with injuries. The Packers and Lions are tied for first place in the NFC North at 2-and-1.
The Brewers edged the Cardinals 3-2 to even their series from American Family Field. The Brew Crew trailed 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning until Tyrone Taylor and Rowdy Tellez each drove in runs to tie the game. Taylor stepped up to the plate in the following inning and crushed an RBI double to give Milwaukee the lead. Devin Williams notched his 36th save of the season in the ninth to complete the comeback. The Brew Crew have already clinched the NL Central division and are 89-and-69 on the season. The team will go for the series win this afternoon.
