Tornado drills for both Minnesota and Wisconsin are scheduled to occur at 1:45pm and 6:45pm on Thursday, April 16.
If severe weather would be an actual possibility that day, the drills would be postponed to Friday, April 17.
NWS La Crosse and NWS Twin Cities will initiate the drills through the following means (note: only NOAA Weather Radio and Social Media will be public facing):
NOAA Weather Radio -- drill will be sent as Required Weekly Test (RWT) with normal alert tones followed by drill verbiage
Social Media
NWSChat/Slack
ARMER & WISCOM radio networks
There will be NO test Tornado Watch or Warning sent from the NWS, nor will there be any wireless emergency alerts or push notifications on phones.
Outdoor warning siren activation will vary by jurisdiction. Some TV/radio stations may briefly cut into programming.
