Snow is inevitable here, but while we wait for that first big accumulation, it's a good time to brush up on Red Wing's Snow emergencies that are declared in anticipation of six inches or more of snowfall.
When that happens, notifications will be sent out via multiple methods before 6 p.m. on the day before the snow emergency starts.
Day 1 of a snow emergency goes from 12:01 a.m. to noon on the day noted in the announcement.
During that time, there's no parking on Snow Emergency Routes.
On Day 2, the following day, there's no parking on streets not designated as Snow Emergency Routes from 12:01 a.m. to noon.
People may park in any City ramp or lot during a snow emergency, no permit required.
