The Red Wing Police Department is reporting as of late this morning, numerous Red Wing residents and the Goodhue County Dispatch Center have received phone calls from a male claiming he is a Red Wing Police Officer named Jeff Schneider.
There is no one by that name employed with the Red Wing Police Department.
It's unclear what this person is after as the contacts they are aware of have been brief. If you receive a similar call DO NOT give out any personal information.
During his call to Goodhue County Dispatch the male told the dispatcher to input the caller ID phone number into Google or Safari browser to verify it was from the police.
The Red Wing Police Department is advising not to do this and hang up. If you receive a phone call from this male, please contact Goodhue County Dispatch at 651-385-3155.
These incidents are currently being investigated.
