The first of many meetings was held last night at the Red Wing Elks Lodge for the Power of 100 Red Wing organization and their Impact Award Event, a part of a National Alliance.
The Power of 100 Red Wing is a group of 100 Women who give $100 each and are dedicated to cash donations to non-profit organizations on a Biannual basis.
These 100 Women will meet each Spring and Fall and watch presentations made by the top three applicants and vote on one choice to receive $10,000 toward their organization at that meeting.
Last night’s three finalists were: Red Wing Environmental Learning Center, Universal Music Center and Faith in Action Red Wing.
After presentations last evening, the Power of 100 Red Wing Members chose: Faith in Action in Red Wing which received $10,000 toward their organization.
Faith in Action provides several free services in the community, including transporting folks in and around Red Wing, volunteer visits to individuals and help with books from the library.
All services provided are within the City of Red Wing and within a 6 mile radius but they do provide transportation for cancer patients receiving treatment at Rochester Mayo.
