Plainview Farmer’s Market Open

The Plainview Farmer’s Market is off to a good start.

The market, held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays through September in the parking lot behind Bennett’s Food Center and Catering, drew a steady crowd of visitors this past week.

Market president Lisa Klein says some of their vendors are coming only certain weeks, while their veggie and meat vendors are there every week.

Klein said the season has begun with a nice variety of flowers, vegetable starts, spring vegetables, meats, eggs, honey baked goods, rugs, home-made granola, and more.

According to the Plainview News, Sue Mathison - the ‘Bee Lady’ - is back with her honey products. She will be at the Plainview market on the first and third Wednesdays of each month with local, raw, wildflower honey and beeswax products as well as two new products this year - honey barbecue sauce and spicy hot honey.

Poppa J’s Kettle Corn will return once or twice a month. And visitors also can enjoy 3-D’s ice cream, and all sorts of flowers, plants and veggies from Fairview Farm near Beaver, among other vendors. Katie Klein, Lisa’s daughter, helps run the Hidden Stream Farms site, offering a wide variety of products, from ‘rib-ticklers’ and cheesy Polish natural brats to bavette (flank) steak.
