Plainview Elgin Area Food Shelf

Peoples State Bank, in partnership with Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, announced that the Plainview Elgin Area Food Shelf will receive a $10,000 joint donation.

The Plainview News reports the money is part of Federal Home Loan Bank’s grant program, which will award a total of $20 million this year for community development around Minnesota.

Food Shelf director Carmen Diedrich said she and her staff are grateful for the grant, as more people are experiencing food insecurity.  “Not only have our numbers gone up each week, but the availability of purchasing food at lower costs through our normal sources has decreased,” she said.

The Plainview Elgin Area Food Shelf is at 25 Main St. W. in Elgin. It is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays.
