PEM School Board members on Feb. 9 discussed whether to hire SitelogIQ, a Minneapolis-based construction management firm, for indoor air quality work in regard to a mold problem which affected the PEM PreK-3 building, PEM High School, and the PEM 4-5 building in Elgin last summer.
SitelogIQ representatives met with the School Board in December and listed several categories of facility assessment, focusing on indoor air quality.
The company would capture and document existing conditions, assess building and programming needs, identify high-priority needs, help the School District prioritize, gather community input, maximize funding and more, using a traditional construction approach.
According to the Plainview News, their presentation showed costs for high-priority needs (mold areas), additional areas to consider (non mold areas), and tariffs, for a total estimated construction cost of $13 million.
Board member Julie Hart said the School District should have an attorney review the project contract.
Superintendent Courtney Frie FREE recommended that the Board sign a contract with Sitelogiq or, at the very least, a project management firm.
She will contact Sitelogiq for more information.
