PEM School Board Data Assesment

Greg Taylor

PEM School Board members on Nov. 12 heard a presentation by grades 9-12 Data Coach Nate Pfeilsticker.

He supports administrative work in collecting data, assists teachers in collecting, organizing and analyzing data, and integrates data through Schoology, using common assessments.

Pfeilsticker discussed 9-12 building goals for 2023-2024, and noted that 87.85 percent of students in the senior class of 2024 were considered ‘future ready’ for college and/or a career, as measured by Redefining Ready Benchmarks.

Redefining Ready is a national initiative launched by the School Superintendents Association to introduce new research-based metrics to more appropriately assess that students are college-ready, career-ready and life-ready, according to the Plainview News.

Pfeilsticker said 63.6 percent of the Class of 2024 were college-ready and 57 percent were career-ready.

The PEM students had a wide variety of college credit opportunities through the University of Minnesota, Southwest Minnesota State University, and Riverland Community and Technical College.

Pathways and dual credit offerings included a truck-driving program, a high school firefighter program through the Rochester Fire Department, a welding technology certificate, an operating engineers pathway, and a carpentry union pathway in progress.

The 9-12 building goal for the 2023-2024 school year was that every student would graduate from high school. One-hundred percent of the members of the Class of 2024 graduated.

A total of 97.2 percent of the Class of 2024 graduated from high school by the graduation date.

All 108 students graduated by Aug. 31.
