PEM School Board members recently discussed the possibility of paving the gravel parking lot at Hoenk Park in Elgin, where PEM athletes are involved in football, track and field, and softball.
Superintendent Courtney Frie said she is seeking guidance on the proposal and asked whether the Board members wished to move forward, and if so, what would they feel comfortable splitting, cost-wise, with the City of Elgin.
The Plainview News reports Frie also asked that more information, such as costs and a timeline, be made available for the School Board’s meeting in September. “I think it’s a great idea,” she said. “Our students and our families benefit.”
In other School Board business, Frie said school positions are fully staffed for 2025-2026 and the Board approved a donation of $2,000 from People’s Energy Cooperative for the PEM Marching Band.
