Construction on Old West Main Street in Red Wing continues to make progress.
Last week, the contractor successfully completed all the new sewer and water services between Jefferson and Washington Street.
Starting this week, closure of the intersection of Jefferson St and beginning of pavement removals. The contractor anticipates starting with the new underground utilities within Jefferson St on Tuesday and will likely need all week to get everything stubbed out of the intersection.
Based on this the Contractor plans to only close the intersection and will leave Old West Main open to the west side of the intersection. The closure of the rest of Old West Main through Buchanan Street could happen by the end of this week.
Additionally, the Contractor plans to start construction of the new roadway between Jefferson and Washington this week. The roadway work will be completed by a second crew and is anticipated to start at Washington St and work towards the west.
