Lower Holiday Gas Prices

Minnesota drivers are seeing lower prices at the pump just in time for Christmas.

GasBuddy reports the state average fell 6 cents last week to $2.75 per gallon.

Nationally, prices dropped to $2.85—the lowest since March 2021—while diesel averages $3.61.

As of Tuesday morning, regular unleaded was $2.74 per gallon at Kwik Trip and Good Stop by Casey’s in Red Wing. Both Kwik Trip’s in Lake City were also $2.74.

Wabasha’s Kwik Trip was selling regular unleaded for $2.49 a gallon as of Monday.

In Plainview, Kwik Trip was at $2.74 as of Monday.

Casey’s in Zumbrota was at $2.94 as of Tuesday while Kwik Trip is priced at $2.99 as of Monday.

In Cannon Falls Monday, Marathon Speedway was at $2.87, BP and Quik Stop were at $2.89 and Casey’s was $2.85.

The Country Station is Goodhue was selling regular unleaded for $2.79 Monday and the Kwik Trip in Pine Island it was $2.89 on Monday.

Family Fare and Marathon on North Broadway in Hastings were at $2.95 Monday and the other two Marathon stations and Shell were priced at $2.96.  

Analysts say refineries finishing maintenance and boosting output, along with added OPEC production, are driving the decline.

Experts expect prices to remain steady through the holidays.
