Amateur Baseball:

Red Wing Aces 1 Watkins Clippers 0

Aaron Johnson turned in a pitching performance for the ages Friday night at Memorial Park in Dundas as the Aces edged the Clippers in the State Class C Amateur Baseball Tournament's second round.


Johnson tossed a complete game two hitter, allowing just a double in the fourth inning and a single in the eighth inning. He struck out 10 and walked just two and threw 131 pitches.


Justin Thompson of Watkins tossed a gem as well, allowing just one run on four hits with a walk and five strike outs.


The Aces scored the game's only run in the third inning when Brodie Smith walked, stole second base, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a two out single by Marcus Walm, who had three of the Aces four hits in the game.


Loretto faces Bird Island Sunday at 4:30pm in Dundas. The winner of that game faces the Aces in the Sweet 16 round Saturday, September 3rd at 11am at Bell Field in Faribault on Bluff Country 1250 KCUE/KCUE 99FM and on-line at www.kcueradio.com.


Miesville 12 Anoka 2 (8 innings)

The Mudhens rolled to an easy win over the Bucs in the Class B second round game Friday night in Miesville.


Dundas hosts Blaine at 4:30pm today with the winner facing Miesville in the Class B semi-finals Sunday at 1:30pm.
