HOPE Coalition Golf Tournament

The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City is hosting a golf tournament to raise awareness about domestic violence and thank first responders for their service to the public on Friday, October 13th.

Linda Flanders, Development Director for HOPE Coalition in Red Wing, which operates a domestic violence shelter and 24-hour crisis line and full-time outreach office in Wabasha, says the event is held in October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, to bring attention to the traumatic impact domestic violence has on so many people’s lives.

Flanders says people may assume it’s easy for the person being abused in a relationship to simply leave, but that’s almost never an option.

Flanders first responders are on the front lines when it comes to seeing domestic violence first hand and the tournament is a thank you to them as well.

The tournament is 4-player scramble with a 10 am shotgun start. Entry fee is $100 per player ($75 for Jewel members) and includes 18 holes of golf, cart, range balls, on-course contests with prizes and a donation to HOPE Coalition.

All proceeds will go directly to the Wabasha office. Make reservations directly through the Jewel Golf Club, 651-345-2672, Ext. 3.

HOPE Coalition is an advocacy organization helping people in crisis rebuild their lives from domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, or lack of basic needs. HOPE serves people in Goodhue and Wabasha Counties, plus western Pierce County.
