What does it really take to navigate one of America’s greatest rivers?

Captain Lee Hendrix has more than 50 years of stories and experience to share and you are invited to a special event this weekend.

The Hiawatha Animal Humane Society-Wabasha County presents Navigating the Mississippi River with Captain Lee Hendrix — an afternoon exploring the river from the wheelhouse perspective of a captain who has spent decades aboard towboats and passenger vessels.

Hear how captains navigate the Mississippi, discover the history and engineering of the lock-and-dam system, grt a glimpse into the everyday realities of working and living on the river and more.

It takes place on Sunday, August 23 at 2 pm at the Wabasha County Historical Society Museum, 70537 206th Avenue, Read Landings. Admission is $5 and WCHS members and children get in free.
